The Special Advisor to the President Mr Femi Adesina tweeted that the President would not address the nation as earlier reports had stated. His tweet was in the early afternoon of yesterday and it came as a surprise to those who had earlier though that they would hear further directives from the President himself.
Femi Adesina further added that this directives on what and what not to do would be given to Nigerians by the Presidential Task Force on COVID19. It is however salient to note that The Presidential Task force led by Boss Mustapha had a meeting with the President and had given him all the details of the data collated since the ease of the lockdown.
The one clear instruction given by the President was that the lockdown in Kano would be extended by two-weeks due to the unknown disease that is killing massive numbers in the state (Kano). He also advised the governors to work hand-in-hand with the Presidential Task Force to educate the nation on ways to stay safe.
The whole misinformation started when the national co-ordinator of the Presidential Task Force Mr Aliyu Sani allegedly told Channels Television that The President would brief Nigerians himself on the 18th of May(which was yesterday). And also before this statement by Mr Aliyu, the secretary to the government of the Federation Boss Mustapha told journalist to expect new directives before the curfew ends.
