Everyone knows that Thomas Edison invented the electricity light.
What many people don't realize is that he failed thousands of times before he finally come up with a light that actually worked. If he had gotten discouraged every time he failed, he never would have invented anything.
"When I want to discover something, I began by reading up on everything that has been done along that line in the past, " He once said. " I gather the data of many thousands of experiments as a starting point, and then I make thousand more. "
Edison and his staff also failed thousands of times in trying to invent a Woking electric battery. When a friend of Edison's tried to consol him, Edison replied, " why, man, I've got a lot of results. I now know several thousand things that won't work!
